Fallon County Noxious Weed Board Minutes – February 24th 2026

Fallon County Noxious Weed Board Minutes – February 24th 2026

FALLON COUNTY WEED BOARD

February 24, 2026

Members in attendance: Sara Berger, Roddy Rost, Bev Burghduff, Wanda Pinnow & Jesse Scott. Lance Kono – Absent

Other in attendance: Jason & Colter Bechtold

Meeting called to order at  5:14pm

Jason and Colter came in to talk about the upcoming spray season. They let us know their pricing for the season so we could make sure not to be lower than them as they are commercial applicators.

Wanda moved to accept the minutes from the January board meeting, Jesse 2nd – motion carried.

There was discussion on the budget. For the most part there was nothing new, but Sara noted that the wages line doesn’t have enough for the crew to come back in May and spray through the end of June.

It was decided that Sara will find out the set amount that we would need to finish out the fiscal year and set up a meeting with the commission and as a board, ask for a budget increase for wages.

Jesse moved to accept the weed management plans that were filled out and returned to the board, Wanda 2nd – motion carried.

Sara updated on the crew – Karissa, Owen, Sheridan, Hunter and Kane all coming back – Carlee will not be. Sara would like 1 more for a crew of 6. Wanda moved that we advertise for 1, Bev 2nd – motion carried.

Sara gave an update on conference. She was awarded her 5-year certificate and Wanda presented her with the MWCA Weed District of the year award.

Sara also noted that she was putting in for a $3000 educational grant through the Noxious Weed Trust Fund.

Sara brought up that we may want to look into adding Black Henbane to the county weed list. So far, it’s been identified in 2 locations in Ollie, but we really do not want that to spread.

We will look at chemical bids and set pricing for the 2026 season at the next meeting. It was decided to skip the March meeting and meet Apil 6th at 5pm

Meeting adjourned at 6:06pm

Roddy Rost (Chair)                                                              Sara Berger (Secretary)
