6:33 PM MANAGERS REPORT
Jennefer gave them a list of the events present and past that have happened at the Fairgrounds
since the previous meeting. Mike Menger is going to look at the hot water heater this week. He
thinks the combustion chamber needs cleaned. Jennefer will be off on the 26th and there is an
early close on the 24th. Curt with the sound hasn’t returned her calls. She will try him again.
Jennefer was sent an email for KGHL Radio Advertising so we can lock in the lower price. Dale asked
for the coverage area and Jennefer said she would send it to him tomorrow as she will have to dig
through emails to find their areas but it is very large. This will be the 2025 rate and we have
done this each year.
Derrick DeHaan motioned to approve KGHL Advertising for the 2026 Fair. Dale Butori seconded the
motion. The motion carried. 4 Ayes. 0 Nays. 0 Absent.
6:45 PM EXTENSION REPORT
Dave Kirschten Extension Agent gave a run down of what they have been doing. He talked about the
Joint
Livestock Committee asking if the Board would be ok with them closing the Barn to the public for
beef and swine weigh ins. With steers coming off the trailers who will police it? Justin suggested
they maybe panel off the lane to help. They feel it is a safety concern and the Board agreed after
discussion that it was a good idea. He let them know the Council was asking for more room for
Exhibits and him and Jennefer had discussed how they never knew how many Open Class or 4H there
would be. We will try to accommodate as best we can, but we are at the hands of when they drop
them off. They did ask about doing their indoor judging the week before but as Jennefer said they
are in setting up mode of a lot of areas and not sure it would be ready for that. There was
discussion on the Barn addition. Dave discussed talking with the Commission and their thoughts on
adding on south. There was still discussion on a separate building. Dale asked Dave if there were
any trends or studies on limiting the number of animals each can bring to the Market Show. Dave
said that they are going to limit the “buddy animals” that aren’t being showed, etc. They take up
more room, and we need to utilize it for the actual show animals. Dave said that he would set up a
meeting with himself, the 4H Counsel, Livestock and a couple of Board members so they could
all discuss together and come up with a plan to take to the Commission. The Board thought 1 or 2
members would be available and he should let them know or Jennefer so they can attend. Derrick
asked about an open-air hog barn. If we have 2 facilities we may need to look at adding another
Superintendent. Other than that, he did not know about the grease trap and he will make sure that
him, Kodie and the person in charge of the food booth are aware and going forward will make sure
it’s cleaned out. Jake and Wendy Wagner are going to do a clean on it and can show him how for the
future. With nothing else to discuss Dave left the meeting.
7:23 PM PUBLIC COMMENT
No one appeared for public comment.
6:39 PM OLD BUSINESS IAFE Recap/Votes if needed
Polka Dot-Wendy Wagner talked about how he will do our strolling like Pippi for the Fair. The Board
agreed to this without the stilts act. Jennefer will get that over to Darcy.
Wendy Wagner motioned to approve the Polka Dot without stilts. Derrick DeHaan seconded the motion.
The motion carried. 4 Ayes. 0 Nays. 0 Absent.
Fusion acts-Wendy talked about how there would be 3 parts to the acts for the Free stage. A Magic
Bean in the barn with a corn maze. The proposal they sent said the Cutest Show on Earth and
Jennefer will confirm with them that it is the Wild West acts we discussed with them and email over
their response tomorrow or when she receives it back. These are magicians and other types of
interactive fun for the young and older crowds.
Eric E for Free stage-Wendy felt he would be a big hit for our free stage crowd. The Board agreed.
Dale Butori motioned to approve Eric E for our Free stage act. Derrick DeHaan seconded the motion.
The motion carried. 4 Ayes. 0 Nays. 0 Absent.
Other ideas for free stage besides the Glass Blowing acts. Justin Koenigfeld thought a knife
forging act would be neat. There was discussion that one year there was one. Jennefer will dig
around the internet and see if she can find something. The Board asked Jennefer to talk with
Fusion Entertainment to see if they had anything we could add and glass blowing. Dale Butori said
his act he discussed at previous meeting with the bubbles and magician was already booked for this
year but maybe we can look at it for 2017.
The Board thought that was a great idea.
Large Barn Door-Todd Griffith is getting that fixed this week.
LAL-This contract is done and the deposit paid for Saturday nights show.
Night Show-We are waiting for confirmation on the choices and as soon as we get them we can go
forward. The Board discussed ticket prices for the Night Shows. They are as of now $35 for the pit,
$25 for the lower reserved seating and $15 for the upper reserved seating. After much discussion
that there has not been a price increase in some time it was decided to increase prices to $45 for
pit, $35 for lower reserved and $25 for upper reserved seating. We know it will be pushed back a
bit, but we are still way under what anyone else in the area with the same acts are charging.
Dale Butori motioned to approve increasing our night show ticket prices. Gary Irgens seconded the
motion. The motion carried. 4 Ayes. 0 Nays. 0 Absent.
We will need to get someone to sing the National Anthem at the Rodeos. Jennefer will call Maddi
Butori as she sang it for us a couple of years ago and expressed interest in 2026 Fair.
4th of July-Derrick DeHaan will ask RKZ for some prices on different cover bands or things for the
event. Dale Butori stated it is the 250th anniversary of the US and it would be a great idea to
maybe talk with Karol Zachmann to find out if we can advertise with them for the 4th of July events
they have on the Lake. We do have the best place to sit and watch the fireworks with your family
after the concert. Jennefer will contact Karol Z and get some information for the next meeting.
Derrick will get some band
information.
8:15 PM NEW BUSINESS
Rodeo Clown-Jennefer has had no luck. Danger Dave was grabbed almost immediately after he reached
out to Jennefer. Wendy Wagner will reach out to Sylvan LaCross and see if he has some leads.
Chairman Koenigsfeld asked if there was any other business we needed to discuss.
