Fair Board Minutes – July 15th 2024

6:30PM CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Matt Plaisted called the meeting to order.
6:31PM APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Wendy Wagner motioned to approve the July 15, 2024, Fair Board Agenda. Justin Koenigsfeld
seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.
6:31 PM APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Derrick DeHaan motioned to approve the June 17, 2024, minutes. Wendy Wagner seconded the motion. The
motion carried. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.
6:38 PM MANAGERS REPORT
Jennefer gave the Board the past and present happenings at the Fairgrounds. Art Degrand Memorial Golf
Tournament sent a request asking if we would like to donate tickets for pin prizes for their tournament. As we
have in the past gave tickets, the board discussed that Art was a Rodeo guy and we should give them rodeo
tickets. Jennefer will let Andrea know and she can pick them up.
Wendy Wagner motioned to approve 2 tickets to the Rodeo for the Art Degrand Memorial Golf Tournament.
Derrick DeHaan seconded the motion. The motion carried. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.
Curt is back finishing up the sound in Arena, Barn and he will investigate Exhibit Hall and maybe even have it up
and running. It will be 1 flip switch for most everything to turn on. The Board was excited to hear that. The
suppression room battery backup module is bad. Jennefer is going to get on Commission agenda, but they will
not work, and it will be a board or the box that needs replaced. They cost about the same. Sand will be out of
the barn after the 22nd. 4H set up will be August 1st so it will need to be done by then. Jennefer invited Trent but
he didn’t feel he needed to come as he didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary. Sara with the Weed
Department stopped and asked if she would like us to spray the Scoria parking lot. The board agreed that would
be good. Jennefer will call her in the morning.

2024 FAIR
Bar Bids-Wendy said that Thee Garage will do it. They will pick up paperwork and fill it out.
Sponsors- With the server upgrade and IP address change I cannot print an updated spreadsheet. But
they are looking pretty good so far. Wendy stated Wild Game will donate again but she couldn’t
remember the amount exactly.
Motels-So still not many more motel rooms. Medicine Rocks Lodge or The Bunkhouse. Wendy stated
that we need to book one or the other the drive it about the same distance. Pam Gorder is working on
getting us a couple also. Otherwise, we have all the AirBnB’s we could find in town.
Fair Schedule-Will go out on August 1st with the paper that week and on our sites.
Advertising-KATL-Katl sent a bid for radio ads. Wendy thinks we are good, and the board agreed.
Night Show Camper-Wendy talked with Kelly and Angela Heiser, and they said we could use theirs.
Vet-Jennefer has a message in to Heather Grimes.
Hard Luck for Ranch Bronc Ride Sponsor-Doug Bruha gave $100/day for the rider just out of the money.

7:06 PM EXTENSION REPORT
Dave Kirschten introduced himself to the Board members he didn’t know and let us know he is excited to be in his
position. Everyone on the Board is glad to have him. Discussed if the 4H is in charge of garbage? It will be a mix. Cleaners
will do it 3 times a day Friday-Sunday 8am, noon and 3 pm. 4H/FFA will do the evenings. Our kids will do the 3 times a day
Wednesday and Thursday. All stalls should be down Sunday by around 12pm. The board agreed they could leave the
sawdust. But they need to have all their zip ties and decorations down. There shouldn’t be any animals held overnight this
year either. The barn will be empty Sunday night. Everyone welcomed Dave and look forward to working with him.
Jennefer will have the numbers of the Board for the 4H office.

7:28PM NEW BUSINESS
WSRRA-Eddie isn’t here but wanted to know if the Board would like to sanction the Ranch Bronc Ride. It will cost
us $500 and since we have the top 16 riders coming this helps most of them in the circuit get to the Finals in
Winnemucca, NV.
Justin Koenigsfeld motioned to approve sanctioning our Ranch Bronc Ride. Wendy Wagner seconded the
motion. The motion carried. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.
Monster Mural-Matt brought up that Jennefer had suggested we put in directly on the wall somewhere. It will
be safer, and we won’t have to worry about trying to keep it up in the wind etc. Jennefer and the kids will measure
and see where we can mount it.
Flag Girls-Wendy asked if Jennefer could talk with Karrol and see if she will contact them or get Jennefer names.
National Anthem-Cayla Duke, Maddi Butori or Aubrey Kirschten. Jennefer will try and get one rounded up.
Matt has the poles ready for the hydrant. If Derrick is available or someone to help him put them up.
Matt asked if there was anything else we needed to discuss. Matt asked for a motion to recess to adjourn.
