Fallon County Noxious Weed Board Minutes – November 2024
FALLON COUNTY WEED BOARD
November 18, 2024
Members in attendance: Amanda Frickel, Lance Kono, Bev Burghduff, Sara Berger & Dave Kirschten
- Called the Meeting to order at 6:52pm
- Amanda moved to accept the minutes as they are, Lance 2nd – motion passed.
- There were no questions about the budget.
- Sara let everyone know that Spray Days was ready for Tuesday the 19th and that there were close to 30 people registered. She said that there were 3 presenters; Josh Wagoner talking about Wormwood & Palmer Amaranth, Greta Dige presenting on Working with Municipalities and Jesse Scott was presenting on mapping and planning. Tasha Losing with Ts Traveling Table would be serving lunch.
- Sara handed out the 3-year breakdown on bills for everyone that got a bill this year. Some were higher this year due to more hours spent and some of the chemical was higher. She explained that the board usually goes over the bills and looks at the cost share and then approves or denies the cost share. She did point out that the only 2 bills with a large increase were the City of Baker and the Fairgrounds. She said that Matt had bought more chemicals for the fairgrounds this year than last and that the city’s bill went up due to more hours spent in town spraying this year.
- Amanda moved to accept the bills and the cost shares for the 2024 spray season, Bev 2nd – motion passed. Sara will get the bills out this week.
- Sara showed the RMC prices for the new UTVs. She explained that they offered $4500 for each of the old John Deere 825i gators. She got pricing on the Honda Pioneer UTV with the navigation system installed for mapping. Total price for 2 new Hondas with the trade in value on the John Deeres was $29,050. RMC does not offer government pricing, but they did say they would waive the delivery fee. It was decided that we would wait a few months and see if we can get any more rebates.
- Sara will get the tanks and extras taken off the 2 John Deeres and get them cleaned up so that they are ready to go when we decide.
- Our next meeting will be December 6th at 6pm in the Extension Conference Room.
- Meeting Adjourned at 7:56pm
