September 4, 2024

Convene: 

The meeting was called to order by Curt at 4:35 pm at the O’Fallon Museum metal building.

Public Comment:  Time limit 10 minutes per subject.

Minutes: Read by trustees. 

Toni made a motion to approve minutes and Ken seconded. Minutes approved.

Accessions: (Motion to accept made by Curt and Toni seconded.)

  • Ed Lawler – Has boxes of items and says they can’t be discarded. Was donated a while ago.
    • Ledgers – monthly – Keep one ledger
    • Binder of Lawler Drug records
    • Pharmacy notes
    • Chemicals
    • Labels of drugs
    • He can take what he wants but then the museum gets the rest, on the condition that the museum can do what we want with it.

Discussion of Curator’s Report:

  • PAR update – done
  • AARP Baker History Walk Grant
    • Eight stops – will debut Sept. 28
    • Need standing posts for signs
    • There are 11 benches from Fairgrounds (only temporary), only need 8.
      • Benches would have to be shoveled out in the winter.
      • Signs are temporary and not attached to the concrete
      • New permanent ones that are sponsored – Should they be year round?
    • Baker Furniture – use a Bobcat to clear snow – worried about fence. 
    • Plan  – put out signs and benches, then maybe store them after Halloween.
    • Maybe store benches in pocket park.
  • LEGO Contest
    • Kevin Braun helped judge
    • Will use for LEGO Fridays
  • Mrs. Nevers – Enrichment Fridays on early outs
    • Kids pick activities
    • 6th graders did Homesteading programming – there was no help. Only Melissa was working. There were also visitors. 
    • 20 kids from grades 2-6 do ice cream floats – there was no help. Only Melissa was working. There were also visitors.
  • Regional meeting – seven people signed up from three museums.
    • Cancel due to lack of participants? No – Linda will come!
  • Reimagining Rural in MC
  • Montana Nonprofic Association in Baker
  • Resigned from Visit SEMT Board – recommended Vaughn take Melissa’s place
  • Linda will write a letter the commission about the activities that will be discontinued due to lack of help approved by the commission, then send a text when it’s done.
