RESOLUTION OF FALLON COUNTY’S INTENT TO DISSOLVE THE BAKER TELEVISION DISTRICT AND THE PLEVNA T.V. DISTRICTAND CREATE AN ADVISORY BOARD

WHEREAS, the Plevna T.V. District was created August 26, 1963 to construct, maintain, and operate a television translator station and any systems necessary thereto;

WHEREAS, the Baker Television District was created October 5, 1964 to construct, maintain, and operate a television translator station and any systems necessary thereto;

WHEREAS, taxes are collected for the two Districts from their respective District taxpayers, but said taxes are not sufficient to maintain or improve the system.

WHEREAS, the Commission’s intent upon dissolution would be to create an advisory board regarding the systems for the whole of Fallon County and to maintain or improve the systems from the County’s general budget.  The Commission would like to hear any input from the County residence regarding the dissolution  and proposed plan of management for the system prior to making a decision.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF FALLON, MONTANA:

1.   A public hearing will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 6:oo PM, in the

Fallon County Courtroom, regarding this Resolution of Intent to Dissolve the Baker and Plevna Television Districts and to place the management of the systems with the Fallon County Commission with an advisory board.

2. Although not required pursuant to statute, the Clerk is directed to publish the attached – Notice of Intent in the Fallon County Times once a week for 2 weeks preceding the public hearing.

Notice is hereby given that the Fallon County Commissioners intend to dissolve the Baker Television District and the Plevna T.V. District and appoint a Television Advisory Board to advise the Commission in its management of the Television FM translator station and system.  The Commission is seeking input from County residents  regarding this decision.
