Baker Rural Fire District – May 14th 2026 Special Meeting
THE SPECIAL BAKER RURAL DISTRICT MEETING WAS HELD MAY 14, 2026 AT 7:00 P.M. AT 8254 HIGHWAY 12 IN THE RURAL DISTRICT OFFICE.
PRESENT: Chairman; Turk Stark, Vice Chairman; Treasurer; Dick Chester, Randy Hoenke, Trustee; Shawn Strangford, Trustee; Fred Hoff, Fire Chief; Tom Bruha.
VISITOR: Scott Putman
The reason for the special meeting was for the board to work on the 2026-2027 budget. Turk asked Tom is there are any big future projects. Tom, mentioned the ladder truck has to pass inspection. All the issues that have kept the ladder truck from passing have been resolved. We are now just waiting for the company to come up and perform this inspection.
There was also some discussion about Rescue 7. In the future the department would like to update this unit.
Dick made the motion for a transfer from the 7210-operation account of $200,000.00 to the Capital Projects.
Now for the budget. There was some discussion. The board looked at all the accounts and decided they would like to keep the numbers the same with just an increase of the transfer from $200,000.00 to $250,000.00. The 2026-2027 budget is as follows:
110 – SALARY – $13,500
230 – SUPPLIES – $75,000
300 – PURCHASE SERVICES – $13,000
310 – COMMUNICATIONS – $20,000
340 – UTILITIES – $25,000
360 – MAINTENANCE W/LABOR – $65,000
370 – TRAVEL – $10,000
510 – INSURANCE – $55,000
820 – TRANSFER – $250,000
Dick made the motion to leave the budget the same as last year with just an increase in the transfer to $250,000. Motions was 2nd by Fred. Motion Carried. All Aye.
There being no further business to come before the board. Dick made the motion to adjourn the meeting Shawn 2nd the motion. Motion Carried. All Aye. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
