Fallon County Noxious Weed Board Minutes – March 3rd 2025

FALLON COUNTY WEED BOARD

March 3rd, 2025

Members in attendance: Sara Berger, Roddy Rost, Lance Kono, Wanda Pinnow, Bev Burghduff (called in)

Absent: Amanda Frickel

Called the Meeting to order at 5:36pm

  • Lance moved to accept the minutes from the February meeting, Wanda 2nd – motion carried.
  • Sara updated that all of the bills have been paid but the BLM bill. Brenda with BLM has asked if we can accept payment in the form of chemical due to the government shutting down all payments currently. Wanda moved to accept chemical for payment, Bev 2nd – motion carried.
  • Sara will check with all government contracts to make sure we can get paid for any spraying this year.
  • Wanda moved that we accept the bid from Platinum Motors in Dickinson for the 2 Can Am side by sides, Lance 2nd – motion carried.
  • Sara set an appointment with the commission for March 4th at 2:15pm for approval to purchase the side by sides and requested that any board member that can make it be there.
  • Sara updated on events coming up
    • MWCA Spring Training in Miles City April 22-23
    • 6th Grade Education Day at the Fairgrounds May 14 from 9-12:30
  • Sara gave a crew update – Owen & Karissa are coming back and there are 5 applications to go through and interview for.
  • Sara also noted that she will get a newspaper ad made up for the beginning of May with Poison Hemlock and Absinthe Wormwood so that we can get some education out to everyone at the beginning of the season.
  • The board looked over John Medearis’s weed management plan. Lance moved to accept the management plan, Wanda 2nd – motion carried.
  • The next meeting will be April 7, 2025 at 5pm.
  • Meeting adjourned at 6:32pm
