Fair Board Minutes – June 16th 2025

6:32PM CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Matt Plaisted called the meeting to order.

6:32PM APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Derrick DeHaan motioned to approve June 16, 2025, Fair Board Agenda. Justin Koenigsfeld seconded
the motion. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.

6:32 PM APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Leighton Bilbrey motioned to approve May 19, 2025, minutes. Justin Koenigsfeld seconded the motion.
The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.

6:32 PM MANAGERS REPORT
Jennefer gave them a list of the events present and past that have happened at the Fairgrounds
since the previous meeting. We didn’t get the Grid United Grant award again. There were 4 county
entities that applied for the grant, and they could only give to one entity. So, the Commission
had us add the Reader Board back on to the budget again. Jennefer let the Board know that the
stallers have had a person riding their horses that is not stalling here. The Sheriff was informed
by the stallers, and we are watching. Jennefer asked if we ordered sawdust for the Fair. Matt
Plaisted said he ordered 475 bags of it.

No one attended the meeting.

No one appeared for Public Comment.

6:34 PM OLD BUSINESS
Bar Bids-So far, we received nothing back so far.
Beer Booth Contract-Lanae Bretzel got it, and they are excited to come back again this year.
Vendor/Merchandise Contracts-We have a few of them back but they do have until August 1st to
respond.
Sponsorships-We have a lot of sponsorships already back.

6:36 PM NEW BUSINESS
Advertising for 2025 Fair-Jennefer presented the proposals from the Fallon County Times and
KFLN/KJJM for advertising for Fair and the programs we order. Chairman Matt Plaisted asked for a
motion for advertising. Derrick DeHaan motioned to approve the proposals for both the radio and
newspaper and programs.
Justin Koenigsfeld seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.

SAL/Lakeview
Ladies Golf Association Requests-Both of them are asking for donation of night show tickets for
their silent auctions and door prizes.
Justin Koenigsfeld motioned to approve 2 tickets to the Night Show for both SAL and LLGA. Leighton
Bilbrey seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3 Ayes. 0 Nays. 1 Absent.

Other New Business-Derrick DeHaan has 9 logs needed for Bear Hollow and that would mean we would
need about 7 more. Leighton drives by Shepherd’s each day and can see if there are any that could
work for pickup. Matt Plaisted said he has hay lined up. The Barrel Race did arrange for a water
truck on Friday. They did come in after the event and say that the ground was amazing and they are
always appreciative of using our arena. Kris Bartholomew couldn’t send a written thank you due to
her arm being broken and wanted Jennefer to let the Board know this. Derrick DeHaan spoke due to
them bringing in their own tractor also and that is not ok as they are approved to use ours. It’s
a liability and the Commission would rather they if approved use our equipment. The Buck Rein Hat
guy may come back but only for 1 day of the Fair as he didn’t do as well last year.
Commissioner Braun arrived at 6:48PM

6:48PM-Closed Session
Matt Plaisted moved into closed session.

7:27PM- Commissioner Braun reminded the Board what priority is as a Board. You can call special
meetings. But it needs to be posted 48 hours ahead. Commissioner Braun gave some suggestions of
priority work. The Board discussed meeting for a walk through the grounds and making a list of
priorities. Wednesday was the day they all agreed would work best for each of them. Jennefer will
get it posted tonight so that it is 48 hours prior to meeting on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30pm.

Matt asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.

at the Fair Office
